Answering a few fashion questions I often hear in a generic way.

As a previous department store and specialty shop buyer for many years, I have often been asked questions like “when can I wear white”, “am I too old for”.

         I am not an extremist, and while I believe SEXY is always the dress mode, that there are some limitations. These limitations are mainly due to location, place-event where the fashions will be worn and body shape-size.
Here are some suggestions. I will continue to add to them as time permits.

So here are a few questions/guidelines:

1) When should/can I wear white?
In the old days, Easter and Labor Day were the time-marks; however, for the last 40 years I have advocated “weather” (temperature) as the guideline.
If it is HOT outside, wear white as you like.

2)  Can I wear that with my body?
This is a really hard question, as there are a lot of people that believe they have the right to wear anything / anytime….and they do. Having said that, be aware that life is not without consequences, so if you choose to wear something that the general public would not approve, wear it, have fun, but accept-expect comments.

3) Am I too old to wear that?
This gets a similar response as the above except I will add a little commons sense.
If you really feel that a "style" is too much, just re-interpret the fashion.
Here is an example.
If you feel uncomfortable wearing a 12” miniskirt, don’t give up on miniskirts, just re-interpret it to maybe a 15” or 18’, but still enjoy the fashion.
*Don't give up on sexy. If you wore sexy things when you met your partner and you cease to do so, they may seek to see the fashions elsewhere.

4) I like to wear extremely sexy fashions and I do not care what others think.
“Bravo” for you, but accept-expect comments.

5) It is casual Friday and I want to wear a “really” short skirt.
Frankly, I discourage this, unless you are the boss and can go along with others doing
the same, or you have another job lined up. As you can imagine, I love very sexy fashions, but every now and then I have seen people wear things “out of place”.
i.e. at work, at church, at a PTA meeting…you get the idea.

Remember two fun things:

*Part of being a lady, is knowing when to not be too much of one.

*Good girls may go to heaven, but bad girls go everywhere.
